Great question! Managing nausea when taking Parkinson's medications, especially levodopa, can make a real difference in daily life. Here are some helpful steps to try:

Timing Your Doses
- Take levodopa at least 30 minutes before or 60 minutes after a meal
- Avoid taking medication right after a dose wears off — take it when you're feeling your best

What You Eat Matters
- Avoid high-protein foods (meat, fish, cheese, eggs, soy) close to your dose time — protein competes with levodopa absorption
- Save protein-rich meals for later in the day
- If you take iron supplements, space them 2 hours apart from levodopa

General Tips
- Take small sips of water with your medication
- Sit upright when taking pills
- Eat light, bland foods if nausea is a concern around dose time

If nausea continues to be a problem, it's really worth talking to your doctor. They may suggest adjusting your dosage schedule or exploring alternative delivery methods like inhaled or infused levodopa, which bypass the stomach entirely.

A MyParkinsonsTeam member shared a helpful reminder: medications can take time to find the right rhythm — "it takes a while for your body to adjust, but eventually it will." Hang in there! ☀️
