Himalayan shilajit is a sticky, tar-like substance found in the rocks of the Himalayas. It's formed over centuries from the slow decomposition of plants and is used in traditional medicine.
Some people claim it has health benefits, but it's important to know that there is very little scientific research specifically on shilajit and Parkinson's disease. So it's hard to say whether it helps with Parkinson's symptoms.
A few things worth knowing before considering it:
- It is not FDA-approved as a treatment for Parkinson's
- It can interact with medications, including those commonly used for Parkinson's
- Some products may be contaminated with heavy metals, which can be harmful
- "Natural" doesn't always mean safe, especially when managing Parkinson's
It's really important to speak with your neurologist or movement disorder specialist before trying any supplement, including shilajit. They can help weigh any potential risks against your current treatment plan.
Some MyParkinsonsTeam members have mentioned exploring natural supplements, but always check with your doctor first — your medication balance is too important to risk without professional guidance! 😊

I have seen a lot of Facebook ads for it. I am curious about it also?

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I used to have a Himalayan Siamese 🐈 cat. She was a beautiful spoiled brat and I loved her greatly. Talka would have been quite content if the rest of the family had moved out and we had nothing but delivered meals brought to us. This was long before COVID. This cat just thought that I was all she ever needed.
I don't guess that was the answer you were looking for, but I'm in too much pain to sleep and too tired to do anything about it.
