@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member - Blurry vision can be a consequence of aging eyes, not necessarily PD. I asked an eye doctor about it once and he said the muscles in the eyes are less flexible with age. I don't have PD but my vision gets blurry when I've been at the computer too long or even reading too long. It helps me to get up and move around.
Bernie ,
Isn't Parkinson great , as I always say " Parkinson disease is the disease that keeps giving , not necessarily good things , but it keeps changing your life in so many ways " . Remember Parkinson disease is not who you are , but now it's a part of your life . This website has a lot of great people , who will give you alot of advice , including me but I'm not a doctor , just a guy who's been fighting with Parkinson disease going on 8 years now and has been battling it by myself . Now let me explain what I mean , yes I've been blessed to have great doctors at the VA Hospital for my primary and until recently a great Neurologist , but when you go to a Movement Center they change your Neurologist , well you know what happened new doctor so basically I get to start all over again . But the one constant person in my life has been Jesus , so pray 🙏 to God for help through this journey . And yes having problems with bowel and urinary problems are very common with Parkinson disease , hence the high fiber diet and I find that Propel water with zero sugar works better for me , because it has Electrolytes in it . I hope this helps you in some way . God bless you ..... 🤍
Sometimes my vision gets blurry, is this normal with the parkinson
Yes Bernie bowel and urinary problems are such a part of Parkinson's. One of my husband's first symptoms He had problems even before diagnosed. We would go to a urologist frequently because my husband also had frequent UTIs . Yes everyone's journey is different there are so many that are the same and just reassurance is nice. But always question your Drs. đź©·
First a little shout out to Gary, I always say, just about you think you have things under control, Parkinson's slaps you on the side of your head and says NO YOU DON'T!
Bernie, Gary is right, everyone here has PD, but nobody has exactly the same symptoms and nobody responds to a treatment the same way. All we can do here is, tell you what we do and how we responded. It will be up to you (with your medical team) to take our input and apply it to your situation to find the thing that works best for you.
This question is a good one. You asked a specific question to which we can respond to. As for me, I have constipation. To fight it I take a daily probiotic which seems to work for me, at least well enough. I have not tried the high fiber route but can see how that would help. I do try to eat more ruffage than I did before. I'm even eating kale (begrudgingly). I have a few other suggestions if this is a problem for you.
