I was taking 2 tablets 25/100 Sinemet 3xday and 1 azilet 10mg daily. The doctor switched me suddenly to 1 crexont 70/280 3xday and 1 Azitral 10mg daily. Before switching my lips kept feeling sunburned, bumpy, very dry and would peel several times a day. Mouth also would get very dry making it difficult to eat. I also had sweating periods off and on especially in the evening that lasted around 3 hours sometimes. This has been going on for at least 6 months and it’s making me miserable. My… read more
What changes in symptoms or side effects have others experienced when switching from Sinemet to Crexont, and could medication reactions be causing dry mouth, lip issues, and sweating episodes?
First, it's completely understandable to feel lost when your doctor seems inconsistent — that's genuinely frustrating, and those Show Full Answer
McCindy. Don’t hesitate to seek out another Neurologist to get a second opinion. I respect all of them, but there are some better suited to your situation than others. Myself, I am on my third Neurologist and he is great. I’ve been with him for three years now. You need someone who can address your particular condition and needs. PD can be very different patient to patient.
Diana846, I looked it up and Sinemet is name of a generic carbidopa/levadopa medicine 25/100 strength that is used for the brain to produce dopamine. The crexont he switched me to is a type of extended release carbidopa/levadopa that’s fairly new. I’m fairly new at all of this also and trying to figure out what to do! Sometimes the doctor gives me samples and asks do you have dyskinesia? Try this. You can take this if you want to or if your toes aren’t wiggling very much, don’t take. I can make the decision just let me know if u want a prescription!. I’m like..I don’t know that’s why I’m asking/telling you. I didn’t try that medicine because I was going to be on the road driving to visit family and one of the most common side effects was visual hallucinations!
FredSchoenhofer, the neurologist I have been seeing is a movement specialist and supposed to be very good. It’s the first one I have seen about this. It just seems like he’s really just watching the clock while I’m there. I have never switched doctors before and just kinda uncomfortable doing it. I don’t want to hurt their feelings I guess. He didn’t really do anything before he diagnosed me except watched me walk down the hall, told him my hand had started shaking some after getting really upset and stressed about losing some info and my pictures of our son that passed away and if I noticed writing smaller any. Then he said u have Parkinson’s. Started me that day on carbidopa/levadopa 25/100. After about a month switched me to crexont and rasagline. Couple months later I developed pneumonia and had me stop all meds and go to er. While in hospital husband went to office to get ok to start meds again and he had me switch again to the carbidopa/levadopa. He didn’t even remember having me on crexont earlier. One office visit seemed like all he was concerned about was that I couldn’t remember the ‘medical’ name of the meds. Tells me to research/read stuff to learn about PD then 2 weeks ago said stop reading all that! I know he’s a smart and good doctor but I just feel so ‘silly’ I guess when we ask things. I guess it just takes time maybe. Thanks so much for your advice
