@Hi BonnieRLauber, One more thing we have in common - I lost my sense of smell and taste (the double whammy!) back in the 80's, and you are so right when you say no one has tried to do anything about it. But IT'S IMPORTANT for your good health and quality of life to be able to taste when you cook and be able to smell propane gas if you have a leak. Does anyone out there know of any kind of fix for this symptom?
I was told to be sure to have my gas detector alarm. In working order. I always double check my gas stove burners before I leave the kitchen area. Many times they were not fully turned off and gas was leaking.
I had a fix for awhile called Dexamethalone. It's a nasal spray prescribed by my ENT. However it put me in a steroid dependency state which is not good. I am still trying to get off of steroids and that was 5 yrs ago. I take generic muscinex and nasal irrigation and sometimes that helps.
And a good weekend to you, BonnieR!
BonnieD, again you are on the same time line as me. I read along time ago that if they do therapy such as have you smell things over and over again until some smells come back. Reconnecting those nerve endings but no one has subjected this for me. Should ask my Neurologist if I ever see him. Would love to smell my flowers and baby powder. Memories of my babies. Of course, cooking. I have.no appetite. Cook for my husband who loves food. Hope you have a good weekend. Hugs and love, BonnieR
