I am. They have been really good to me for the past fifteen years. But it is a teaching hospital and you can get a room full of strangers looking on. My DBS was through that group as well and the follow up care was excellent.
I used Dr. Ko at University Hospital , University of Washington, Seattle Wa. He is only one
of jut a few that put you under for the surgery. Most Doctors operate with their patents awake.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member There is something called "Dual Eligibility" What is the basis for your disability?. Parkinson's can cause you to become disabled. So if you are disabled from something other than Parkinson's, you could qualify to receive additional help.Your income, if limited, helps you get more eligible. After you are over the age of 65...you may not qualify for disability..You will probably need a Medicare Advantage Plan or Original Medicare Plan for extra help. That extra help does help with Plan D & C. It does if you are a dual eligibile person. Each state is different. Look for this offering in your state. Keep the team posted. Hello there @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I've been wondering where you went! I haven't heard from you for weeks. I trust that all is well and that you are staying out of trouble. Seriously, how have you been?
All things considered, I've been ok. My doctor has me taking midodrine to keep my bp up a bit as I was passing out when going from a kneeling to a standing position. It seems to be working. I go back to the Cleveland Clinic early January for a standard follow-up. I'm going to have to see what we can do with my meds as the current levels aren't holding off the tremors. I'm good in the morning, but early evenings are tough. I've been doing some pt with Dr. Susan Bennett's office. I like the fact that the man who is working with me is also a doctor and this operation deals with patients who have neurological problems. The last time I did pt work, I was with a general pt office that didn't really address my PD needs.
Still having problems with swallowing. I choke at nearly every meal, but, so far, I have been able to get through it without too much trouble.
Trying to sign up for Medicare...it's been a pain in the neck. As I live in Buffalo NY and go to a specialist at the Cleveland Clinic, getting the clinic recognized as in-store is tough. Also, the Mirapex ER, and it's generic equivalent, is so expensive that most drug plans don't cover it....could cost me personally $300-$400/month. So, I've got some work to do to get a plan before 02/17 as I lose the coverage I had through my wife as she no longer is covered through her previous employer. All good....all good.
So, anyway, I wish you and yours a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and that the new year treats you well.
