My husband is suffering from it very badly right now & I was wondering if anyone had any insight on this matter. Thanks.

Yes, I have it. My PT took my blood pressure three times a week and we noticed, every now and then, and then more often, my blood pressure got to a place where it was high and low and normal all in a short period of time and all over the place. The mornings were the worst because when I woke up I could not get up and go to the bathrooom without feeling faint. I sat at the side of my bed for what seemed like a lifetime waiting to have enough energy to get up and walk. After waiting far too long between my first GP appointment where we tried to handle the blood pressure naturally by increasing my salt intake and drinking more water and the second GP appointment and finally the cardiologist appointment, I was given a prescription of MIDODRINE 2.5 mg to take two a day. I take ONE a day at noon and my blood pressure has progresssively improved. TWO tablets were too much! I also take a tablet of carbi/levo as soon as I open my eyes in the morning with a carb. I may get light headed during the day, there is usually a reason like it is time to take my carbi/levo tablet again.

I have given much attention to the amount and timing of the cari/levo tablets. I began by having no guidance from my first neurologist. Early on, I started by taking 1/2 tablet every three hours. Two years later I now take one tablet every four hours, roughly 12 / 4 / 8 / 12. Midnight can be 10 or 11 PM and 4 AM can be 3 or 6 AM. I listen to my body. I identify how I feel when I am 'off' - for me I liken it to a coffee buzz which means too much - tired or shaky or dead head means take one with a carb NOW - even keel means balanced.

It is common with PD and is a known side effect with some of the medications. Talk to the doctor about it. In the meantime, he needs to be very cautious when he changes position. i.e. when he gets out of bed, he should sit on the edge of the bed a minute before he stands up, then when he stands, he can hold on to something a few seconds before starting to walk.
