Hi Bob9. My name is Ann. I have had complete blood work done and there is nothing wrong. My movement disorder doctor swears that PD doesn't cause weight loss. It's not a common thing. Only 9% of people with PD lose weight. Fourteen percent gain weight. Another doctor I go to said she thinks it might be my metabolism and not eating enough. I read that PD can affect the metabolism. You can type that into Google. I'm very underweight and very scared.

The shaking in itself can burn calories that add up over time. Also some people lose their sense of taste or smell so lose their appetite. Depression can also make it hard to eat.

You can talk to a nutritionist to find the best ways of adding healthy calories to your diet based on your health needs. Perhaps eat more nuts, cheese, protein (but not with your pills), avocados, etc. If swallowing is an issue, meal replacement shakes or smoothies might help.

How long have you had PD and how much weight have you lost? i have had PD for about 12 years and have lost a total of about 47 pounds.
