My wife is age 70 with PD with Psychosis. She is at the point where I have to handle all legal matters, etc.. What do I need to handle all legal concerns, etc.. Power of Atty, Legal Guardian or ...Representative. Almost everything including property is joint, but we are in the process of selling our home. She could probably get through this closing, but that's it. How can these things be achieved being on a very tight budget. Thanks for any assistance. God Bless you! A.W.

Find an attorney who specializes in estate planning. We just went through updates and ended up getting new wills for both of us, a Power of Attorney (naming me for him but also one naming his eldest son in case I am unable to act and vice versa) and Living Wills discussing what medical interventions we want and naming a Medical Representative. If your wife does have dementia, you may have to become her legal guardian. If you have very little money, there may a Legal Services office in your area that can help. Contact your local Senior Services office. FWIW, our documents for 2 people only cost $300.
