PT is very helpful with balance and "Big Step" therapy; just some things I have learned. Make sure your PT provider is a specialist in Movement Disorders - PT is not all the same. Make sure your insurance covers it (if applicable) and, make sure the insurance covers what your doctor prescribes. Mine doesn't; out of pocket or no PT for me after 15 sessions.

PT and OT have been what help me function as well as possible despite being immobile and in a wheelchair. I have in home care which help me learn to function in my own environment. Although some days are exhausting it’s always worth the effort.

My husband has done LSVT-Big therapy as well as specific PT for his back and knee. He is doing Rock Steady Boxing now. I did PT for a frozen shoulder and a badly broken hand. It can be very helpful, as long as you continue to do the exercises. Once you start slacking, you lose the advantage.

I have had PT, OT, Speech T for several years and in addition to the exercise, it makes me aware of what my limits and symptoms are at any one time...which helps me inform may doctor when bringing him up to date.
