First, I always tell others what we have all been told a million times “ no two cases of Parkinson’s disease are the same, and each of us will find the medications best for us and our symptoms “. That being said, carbidopa/levadopa is still considered the gold standard in meds for Parkinson’s. It’s about the oldest drug for it, and works well for the greatest number of people. It can cause side effects ( it did me initially) and some of them are not fun! But some you may be able to overcome in time.
To answer your question about food, I have to say again, it depends on the person. I believe that the official word is, take it at least 1/2 hour before a meal, or 1 hour after a meal. Try not to have any protein at the same time as you take it, but a little food ( like crackers ) is fine and may help you feel better if it tends to make you feel nauseous.
I have found the best pattern for me is first thing in the morning with my coffee, and about a1/2 before dinner ( usually while cooking dinner )at night. I only take a small amount though so you need to find what works for you. I’ve had PD 16 years and so what I’ve told you is what I’ve learned over that time.
Hi Werndy i was told to not eat an. Hour before taking it and an hour after this is because protein hinders the absorption of the dopamine There is protein in most foods even in small amounts Hugs RobynSA

I took 1/2 pill twice a day, morn and late afternoon. It made me most lightheaded.
