It sounds like you're referring to a treatment for Parkinson's disease. If you're talking about Duopa, here's some detailed information from the knowledge base:
- Duopa (Levodopa/Carbidopa): This treatment involves a minor surgery called percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) to create a small hole with a tube through your upper abdomen, leading to your small intestine. This setup is known as the PEG-J or J-tube.
- Administration: A small pump is fitted into the stoma, and Duopa is infused continuously through the pump. You will administer Duopa by inserting small cassettes containing the drug into the pump.
- Storage: Duopa cassettes should be stored in the refrigerator and allowed to warm to room temperature before use.
- Monitoring: Regular blood tests are required to monitor liver, kidney, and heart function. Skin should be examined regularly for changes, and intraocular pressure should be monitored if you have wide-angle glaucoma.

I have a Duopa pump. Although it is a little inconvient but the pluses way out weigh the negatives here! It works really well by processing medication all day long with no off times. If you feel the need you a get an extra dose, in my case every two hours. I highly recommend this procedure. It’s well worth checking into.
