Dyskinesia can sometimes become severe and lead to unintentional self-injury. Some people with Parkinson's have reported hitting their arms or legs against objects, dropping hot liquids, or even accidentally harming loved ones during episodes. This could be due to the long-term use of levodopa, as dyskinesia often develops after years of treatment. It’s important to discuss these symptoms with your doctor, as adjustments to your medication or alternative treatments like amantadine, deep brain stimulation, or extended-release formulations may help.
