Medication timing and effectiveness can vary significantly from person to person. Some MyParkinsonsTeam members report feeling their best in the early morning, while others find afternoons or evenings are their peak times. It's common for medication effectiveness to be inconsistent - working well one day and taking longer to kick in the next.
For optimal medication effectiveness, try taking your doses at least 30 minutes before or 60 minutes after meals. This is especially important with high-protein foods, which can compete with levodopa during digestion. If you're struggling with mornings, you might want to discuss your dosing schedule with your healthcare provider. Many members find success by planning their activities around their "on" times when symptoms are well-controlled. Consider keeping a motor symptom journal to track when your medication is most effective. This can help you better plan your day and activities. Some members find that early morning exercise or activities help set a better tone for the day, while others schedule their most important tasks for the afternoon when they feel stronger.
