@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I have also experienced one or both eyes tearing. It's not terribly troubling but curious. The thing that bothers me most lately is freezing when typing from my phone. It is moderate today, some days, it might take me an hour to type a simple message such as this.

Are you experiencing tearing in one eye and frequent throat clearing?

Tearing or watery eyes can occur with Parkinson's disease. Some people experience visual changes or eye-related symptoms as part of their condition. The tearing might be related to reduced blinking, which is common with Parkinson's, or other eye-related issues.

Throat clearing is also something that can happen with Parkinson's. It may be related to swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), which affects many people with the condition. When swallowing isn't working smoothly, you might feel like you need to clear your throat more often. This can happen because saliva or mucus isn't being swallowed as efficiently as it should be.

It's important to mention both of these symptoms to your neurologist. For the throat clearing, they might refer you to a speech-language pathologist who specializes in swallowing issues. They can evaluate what's happening and recommend exercises or strategies to help.

For the eye tearing, your doctor can determine if it's related to your Parkinson's or if you need to see an eye specialist for additional evaluation.
