Roseann I'm lightheaded most of the time but although it hurts I make myself move! if you retire to your recliner you will fade away so try when you can to push through and be aware to stay close to something you can grab in case of a fall you are in my prayers

How can you stay active when lightheadedness is holding you back?

Lightheadedness can make movement feel impossible, even though staying active is important for managing Parkinson's symptoms. This is a real challenge that needs addressing with your healthcare team.

Here are some approaches that might help:

* Talk to your neurologist about your lightheadedness - it could be related to blood pressure changes, medication timing, or dehydration
* Ask about adjusting medication schedules if lightheadedness occurs at specific times
* Try seated exercises or chair-based movements when standing feels unsafe
* Move slowly when changing positions (lying to sitting, sitting to standing)
* Stay well-hydrated throughout the day
* Consider compression stockings if your doctor recommends them for blood pressure issues

The key is finding what works for your body. Exercise is valuable for slowing Parkinson's progression, but it needs to be safe and manageable for you. Some MyParkinsonsTeam members have found success by modifying activities and taking frequent rest breaks.

Don't push through symptoms that make you feel unsafe. Work with your medical team to identify the cause of your lightheadedness first, then develop an exercise plan that accommodates your current abilities.
