Members responded to a question about medication options for a partner with worsening Parkinson's symptoms, sharing a range of personal experiences with treatments. Several members discussed carbidopa-levodopa as a common starting point, with some finding success switching to extended-release Rytary, while others mentioned entacapone, Botox injections for dystonia, and interest in DBS surgery. A recurring theme was the importance of seeing a movement disorder specialist, writing down questions before the appointment, and exploring supportive practices like breathing exercises and PT.

I have been taking Rytary for several years with good success. Regular Cl worked for a while. Rytary is an extended release form of CL

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, Rytary is the only Parkinson's medication that has worked for me.

Thank you, @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I believe in breathing exercises. If the Anulom vinolum works for you, I am happy for you. Simply counting to 7 as I inhale, holding my breath to the count of 7, exhaling as I count to 7, and holding my breath to the count of 7, and repeating it all again, how ever many times I need works for me. I think some people call it "box breathing." K.I.S.S. is how I roll.
Your method would be fascinating to watch, though. Thank you for sharing.

Great question and I believe if this next appointment is a MDS/movement disorder specialist, you will get a clearer picture of what will help the best including medications!! Don't hesitate to ask your difficult questions, do yourself a favor and write everything down that you want to cover during the appointment, MDS move appointments at a much increased rate of interaction and can leave you forgetting everything you wanted to ask that day!!! Balance issues can come from low blood pressure, make sure to rule that out because it's a very serious problem with PD!!! Good luck and research articles on this app too to help your concerns!!
