You are not alone. I thought it was because of PMS. Recently, I participated in a Sr. Fitness class. All older ladies than me and I was the only one sweating. I figured back in my mind something was wrong.

Welcome! Excessive sweating (called hyperhidrosis) is actually a well-known non-motor symptom of Parkinson's disease. It happens because Parkinson's affects the autonomic nervous system, which controls body temperature regulation. So you are definitely not alone in experiencing this!

Welcome! Excessive sweating (called hyperhidrosis) is actually a well-known non-motor symptom of Parkinson's disease. It happens because Parkinson's affects the autonomic nervous system, which controls body temperature regulation. So you are definitely not alone in experiencing this!

Many MyParkinsonsTeam members deal with this and have found some helpful strategies. Here are some practical tips that tend to help:

- Layer your clothing — wearing thinner layers lets you easily add or remove them as your body temperature shifts
- Choose natural fabrics — cotton and wool help regulate temperature better than synthetic materials
- Stay hydrated — drinking enough water helps your body manage temperature more effectively
- Keep a small fan nearby — especially useful at night or during rest periods
- Talk to your neurologist — there are medications that can help manage excessive sweating, so it's worth bringing up at your next appointment

It's also worth keeping a simple log of when the sweating tends to happen — whether it's linked to your medication timing, activity, or stress. This can give your doctor really useful information.

You're not alone in navigating this — it's one of those symptoms that doesn't get talked about enough but affects many people with Parkinson's!

Oh my, yes! I don't have it every day but it is bad if I do any kind of moderate activity. If I am in a hurry, like getting ready to go somewhere, the sweating is horrible! My hair gets soaking wet. I sweat my makeup off. I hate it. I have to take a towel and wipe off my arms and legs. I sit in front of a fan and hope and pray that it stops. I have learned to give my self more time to do things. I hope this helps. Sending my best to you!
