I am 58 and I was diagnosed eight years ago and I am currently having issues with closing my eyes a lot I am wondering is it is this a side effect of medicine or what?

His answer is right. His math is way wrong. Parkinson’s slows down everything. Therefore we blink less and our eyes do dry out and cause double vision. You can blink your eyes several times and clear your vision, but you’re tired. Go to bed.

The 200to 300 blinks per minute. Translates to 4 to 5 blinks per second. If we saw somebody blinking like that we’d call the rescue.

My doctor told me the a normal person blinks their eyes around 200 to 300 per minute but people with PD can go down to 2 to 3 times per minute. Do to this your eyes dry out causing blurred vision, trouble focusing. He said lubricating eye drops to help.

Yes, some meds will make you a bit drowsy. Check with your doctor!

Barbara,
I have recently noticed, that I am closing my eyes more, but I am taking naps too, which I never did before. When I close my eyes, I am not necessarily tired/sleepy, but I soon get that way. When I am at church, when I am at home, when I'm outside, it doesn't matter. I haven't thought about it, but it's just been since my DBS surgery. Did you have DBS?
