I've heard different time frames, from half an hour to an hour to longer. Part of it depends on how your digestion is working. If you have gastroparesis then a longer time frame makes sense. My husband takes his pills more or less on a schedule, but our meals are not as strictly scheduled, so some days he ends up taking some pills with meals instead of before or after. Our priority is to make sure he takes the pills, even if they are not timed ideally. So far, it doesn't seem to make much difference.

What? I heard not to do a high protein diet but I didn't know the 2 hour rule? That's difficult to do when you take it several times a day. 😥

Regrettably Russ, this is a fairly accepted state of affairs.

The "channel" that your L-dop medication uses to get from your stomach into your bloodstream is also used to digest protein...and the protein takes preference.buf you've filled up on meat then the drug won't be able to be absorbed.

Normal recommendation is leave at least two hours after protein before taking pills, or one hour after pills before eating protein.

My Dr warned me of protein and I was on a high protein diet and finally losing weight! No more high protein!! Fat forever lol 😂 but aren't protein drinks the same as meat protein? My Dr also advised against tomatoes and high acid foods, not really understanding why!

Sorry folks, I had to give up on the time frame, could not remember, mine was 1/2 before and after.
Now I don’t eat a lot of protein but drink the protein drinks. Besides all this was dx with PIS and have to take meds before eating anything to aide in the absorption of nutrients.
Does it affect the absorption of my PD meds, who knows?
All depends on remembering
to take it. Have an alarm set for all other meds.
Enjoy your day !
Blessings to All
