On the left ; Requip XL 2mg. On the right; Ipinnia XL 2mg. Same drug (Ropinirole), same dosage (2mg) and same "form" (XL or controlled release). Different manufacturers - Requip was Smithkline Beecham, Ipinnia is "Ethypharm" but they may be just a distributor.
Given swallowing is a common difficulty, did Ethypharm take ANY advice before designing this horse-tablet form?

That's exactly what I've done . Contacted my Parkinson's nurse and she has promised to contact my GP and specify Requip XL.

Hey Nigel2, Epilepsy taught me a whole lot about generic verses name brand. The brain is a sensitive place especially when you are trying to 'fix 'something. The reason I was advised by my doctors is the manufacturer's recipe can create a less than or more than effects on its delivery and effectiveness. Kinda like a recipe that calls for butter and you use margarine. It is different but close. Close is not good enough for sensitive people who react to fillers. I take Ropinirole 2mg extended release. I also take the extended release of Carbadopa Levodopa and a fast acting one. The insurance companies are not happy to do this and I usually have to navigate the override department. Your doctor can facilitate this effort. This is also necessary if you have issues with meds creating side effects. My side effects usually start showing up around 2 weeks in..

Well, the first time I've encountered someone on the same mix of controlled and normal release...I take 2 tablets three times a day, on each of 100/25 controlled release and 100/25 normal release. Then before bed I take just one 200/50mg controlled release.
Every medical professional I've spoken to says it shouldn't work...but it has, for over ten years. It's only now as the disease is progressing that I'm suffering a lot of symptoms between doses.
