I get help thru In Home Supporting Services. I get to hire my own helper. I am able to hire a member of my family and they are paid by the state. Anyone who is hired must have a background check. Good luck.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I found that places offering assisted living and nursing home care cost run about $4,000/month here in Louisiana. I find nursing homes to be the pits. My income is small so I couldn't afford either. I don't know if there are programs that help out those that can't live alone or need financial help to live in other than their own homes. I still live at home but my companion's daughters.lives with us and is our caregiver. He is disabled also from a stroke. I worry about the future but just have to leave it in God's hand and do the best I can.

ARE has a program called CareLinx. You should check them out. I was impressed when I contacted them for care for my mother.(Not Parkinson's, but dementia.) I didn't contact with anyone, because I already had someone. But if I have to find someone, I'll use CareLinx.
