Apokyn Injectable -about To Start On It. Anyone Use This Drug?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My sister is about to start Apokyn which is a rescue drug that is injected( like diabetes’ injectable with small thin needle that doesn’t hurt). It supposed to kick in within 10-20 minutes and last about an hour while other carbidopa-levodopa kicks in ( takes about an hour for that). Anyone have experience with this drug?

I have never heard of these drugs. I will stick to THC it alot more natural.

Have You Read The Article In Parkinson's News Today ( PNT) About Delusions Vs Hallucinations?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

PNT wrote
Hallucinations occur when a person sees, hears, feels, smells, or tastes something that doesn’t exist. Hallucinations happen when a person is awake — they are not dreams. People may be aware that they are experiencing a hallucination while it’s happening or realize it shortly after. This is called “retaining insight.”

Losing insight — failing to realize something is a hallucination — can cause agitation and can also lead to falls or other accidents.

Opinion On Parkinson's Awareness Ad That Focuses On Dementia And Delusions
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

There's a new Pharma Ad on TV that focuses on Parkinson's patients with dementia and delusional thinking . Personally, I would rather have seen the focus be on symptoms that are more widespread, yet hidden from the average eye. I think the portrayal of Parkinson's causing hallucinations runs the risk of stigmatizing many of us. I think more widespread "silent" symptoms such as pain, social withdrawal, overall slowness (with movement and thinking) would be more accurate portrayals of what we… read more

What Experience Have You Had With Nuplazid?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Approximately 3 months ago, I experienced severe hallucinations hypothesized to be associated with an urinary tract infection, I had a second less pronounced episode of hallucinations about 6 weeks ago, also associated with a UTI. My neurologist prescribed Nuplazid, the only medication approved for the prevention and treatment of Parkinson's related hallucinations.

I have had no significant hallucinations since then. However, it is difficult to determine if the decrease is a direct effect of… read more
