Does Anyone Experience Low Blood Pressure When Standing?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I understand low BP can be a manifestation of PD. My ex-husband frequently passes out when standing up due to low BP. They adjusted down the cardidopa/levidopa down and increased the low BP med, but the BP still stays low and now the tremors are back. Anyone else run into this problem?

I’ve passed out more than once when I stand up and was hospitalized once. It seems that the major problem is that you’re not drinking enough water. I was given an iv of saline solution and not only… read more

Anyone Know Anything About (or Are Experiencing) Hemianopsia?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone. I’m asking this on behalf of my ex-husband (we’re dear friends). He recently developed Hemianopsia which is a temporary loss of vision. The way he explained it to me was if someone had taken a piece of paper and from his forehead they lowered it down so that he can only see half of what he normally sees. In other words, if he had this come on and he looked at me, my head and shoulders would be gone but everything else down would be there.

Right now it’s only in one eye an it… read more

Has Anyone Had Accupunture For Pain Due To Parkinsons?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I, myself, do not have PD but my ex-husband (and very dear friend) does. He has horrible pain in his lower back and legs and can't stand for more than 2-3 minutes. They gave him several medications and they all caused immediate nausea. We were both very disappointed. I'm wondering if accupuncture would help. Has anyone tried that? Thanks so much!

WONDERFUL!! Can I hear from others that have had success with accupunture for pain?

Low Blood Pressure
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I believe I asked this question before with few answers, probably because there are no answers.

My ex-husband (and best friend of 49 years) has PD. The tremors are under control but his blood pressure is extremely low. I don’t live with him but he tells me often that he passes out when he stands up which, of course, alarms me greatly. He went to the doctor about 4 weeks ago and the top reading of his BP was 50. That’s extremely low. The meds prescribed to lower it aren't working. There… read more

I also suffer from low blood pressure. I think PD is to blame but also A fib. Lightheadness is part of ortho static hypertension. You can faint when your BP gets that low. I stay home if it's low… read more

Need Help Navigating The System
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My ex-husband’s PD is definitely progressing and, at least to me, at a rapid pace. His blood pressure is the biggest problem and after trying many meds, nothing seems to work. Now he tells me that he’s having balance problems not related to blood pressure. He knows he’s going to fall so stays on carpeted surfaces. He’s losing weight because he stays out of the kitchen because it isn’t carpeted.

Have any of you had any luck with Medicaid? If so, what help? How did you navigate the system… read more
