My sister is about to start Apokyn which is a rescue drug that is injected( like diabetes’ injectable with small thin needle that doesn’t hurt). It supposed to kick in within 10-20 minutes and last about an hour while other carbidopa-levodopa kicks in ( takes about an hour for that). Anyone have experience with this drug?
I have never heard of these drugs. I will stick to THC it alot more natural.
Neurologist order Sinemet 1 tab, 3 x day. My husband took this for 3 weeks with no change. Doc now wants him to take 2 tabs then increase to 3 tabs to make sure it doesn't work. Has anyone experienced this, did it help diagnose PD, and what were the side effects?
Thank you
Patricia

I have been blessed with both ET and PD. I'm looking for something that can aid me with both action tremors and at rest tremors. My doctor tells me that there are no medications that work for both. She is reluctant to add more medications because my vital signs are already too low.

Tremors started as essential tremors . DOES IT turn into Parkinson's
My wife was wrongly diagnosed with tremors. Then diagnosed with PD and then they tested her and said she didn't have PD but, had Parkinsonism. We changed Neurologists. Very frustrating.
My Neurologist was telling me that the shaking for I have may be a part of a Essential Tremor. Is this a part of or a branch of Parkinson's? Is it related? Can one be the cause of the other? I just recently got diagnosed with Parkinson, but I'd noticed that shaking going on since I had brain surgery where the left temporal lobe of the brain was removed in full because of the Epilepsy for which no meds were controlling for me..
Thanks for your feedback

My private neurologist says a definitely have Parkinson's and is treating me with pramipexole which works. My VA neurologist says that I have essential tremors. How do I know what I have and what is the right treatment?
Essential tremor is a resting tremor. Parkinson’s is a use tremor. It’s possible to have both. I do.
I had my first appointment Friday. He did some testing and said he’s not convinced I have Parkinson’s.
He said, just because I have a tremor it doesn’t mean I have Parkinson’s.
It’s been 2 years since my diagnosis and there hasn’t been any advancement in my Parkinson’s.
I have some of the symptoms but i can do things that people with Parkinson’s can’t do.
He ordered a mri of my lower back and the next appointment he wants me to come in without taking my morning meds.
Any thoughts?

I was with my Dad this weekend, and told him that I've been noticing some cramping in my right foot. It's been going on for the past 3 or 4 months at least, and I have also had some mild cramping elsewhere all over my body, but the foot is persistent. Dad said that this was his first symptom and that I should have it checked out. He was diagnosed at 60, but I'm only 32 and understandably a little shaken at the prospect. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised, since Dad and I are so similar in… read more
