Has anyone found neck or back supports helpful
After seeing this picture, I'm thinking of buying a neck pillow (type you use on an airplane) for my hubby.
My mother is often dizzy or unsteady. She has thankfully only fallen once. PT helped her some. The physical therapists showed her exercises to improve her balance. She is learning to stop and wait a… read more
A medical power of attorney, sometimes called a durable power of attorney for health care, is a legal document that gives another person the ability to make medical decisions on your behalf if you’re unable to make the decisions. Good thinking. I haven't done a will yet
I’m wondering if anyone can shed some light on a problem. My ex-husband (don’t worry….I’m not looking to finish him off-----we’re the best of friends) is in incredible, I mean INCREDIBLE pain. His tremors are under control thanks to medication and his balance is OK but the pain…. From what he describes, it sounds like muscle contractions that don’t go away. It used to be in his lower extremities but he just told me that now it’s travelled to his shoulders. He walks hunched over and can… read more
Hi,
I have pain due to muscle contractions in my calf, neck and shoulder. Full body massage helps, stretching and going to a chiropractor will help. What medication is your husband on? I take Sinemet.
I'm now taking a new prescription to control cramping and semi-paralysis.
Zanaflex is a very powerful muscle relaxant. But it doesn't return your bodily control to you- it just takes away...everything.
It helps you by doing the same thing the illness does.
But I now could not do without it.
That's the question I'm asking. When did you know how it is?
Yes, I can only count on one thing with this illness. The pain takes over the longer you have PD. I am unable to take any pain meds except for Tylenol, and you know how well it works. I'm allergic to… read more
Just an update. My Parkinsons has totally changed my life, with little or no warning. I am on a walker now as I have no strength and little control over my legs. The spasms on my hands, arms, feet and legs happen often. Yesterday, I ordered a lift chair as I can no longer get out of my regular chairs.
Thank you so much David, I thought I was losing my touch! As someone who has been suffering 7 years in extreme pain to finally get diagnosed with stage 3 Parkinson's 9 months ago, being told I wrote… read more
Someday all of the stress, pain and worry will be lifted off our shoulders. We can't control that but we can decide to hope.
Oh, how wonderful. What a great way to manage stress. Thanks for sharing Denise.
I love angels and have them all over my house. Sadly, I lack your talent.

I seem to not be able to control my anger as of late. I say too many things that can not be unsaid and have to constantly apologize, it's like my filter went away! What I say is always valid, but still hurtful. And then come the tears and sobs. Because I feel horrible for being an ass, then feel sorry for myself lol.
I feel that it all comes from pent up frustrations from just everyday bs, dropping things, forgetting things , another trip up the stairs, etc., etc.
Anyone else relate?

When they saw it I was scheduled immediately for the surgery. For 6 months I was in pain and rehab. It was… read more
Although there are no signs of dementia, I still worry about not being able to make my own decisions, medically and financially. I trust my sister-in-law to make medical decisions if I cannot since she has been a nurse for 40 years. I would want my husband and her to be named. Of course, I worry that they may want to take over even when I can decide independently. Advance Directive is easier since it involves my wishes regarding aftercare. How does the Medical Power of Attorney work? Will a… read more
